Mommy and Me Owl Card

My 2 year old son helped me to make this adorable owl card!

My little man loves to paint, and I love to craft! So I feel like he's old enough to start making things with me! This craft is super easy for them!

Start out with solid card stock. I used white but you could use another color if you choose to. Using your Stampin' Up! ink pads.. transfer the ink on to the lid. Then we used the aqua painters and mixed up the ink to make water colors. I let him paint all over the white paper (give your little one "ink paint" in the colors that you want to use in your project). Don't worry about how crazy it might be turning out.

Then take your punch of choice and decide what area of the painting you want to be the design of your punch. I chose to make my son's art the tummy of the owl. I think it turned out really cute!

Also.. don't forget to save their painting "scraps" for future projects! Think of this like handmade designer series paper!

Pinwheels on Parade Scrapbook Page

My son loves many things.. but two of them stand out: pinwheels and the beach! When I saw the Pinwheels on Parade Simply Scrappin' Kit I just knew it was going to be perfect for many projects to come! A scrapbook page can be done in so many different styles. I chose a simple (but so cute) layout for this one. This kit comes with 12x12 paper in patterns and solids. All of the papers coordinate as well as the sticker sheets. I chose the Midnight Muse solid paper for the background because it was bold enough to support my bright pictures! Then I chose the Baja Breeze solid paper as the accent behind the smaller photos. Since I knew I wanted to add the pinwheel sticker paper on here I went with the diamond patterned paper from the kit. I love that it has patterns within the diamonds!!! I used Whisper White Card Stock behind the pictures to help bring them forward on the page. I hope you enjoy this project as much as I enjoyed making it!

Mod Podge Picture Frame

 

So I have this adorable picture of my son that just needed an adorable frame! I knew I wanted to create something myself and when I saw the Pinwheels On Parade Simply Scrappin' kit I knew this had to be a part of it!

Once I had my scrappin' kit in hand I set off to the store to pick up some frames that I knew would work out really well for this project. Since cardstock is thicker than standard paper it works best on a flat surface. I found some basic frames at Target and made sure that I liked the base color of them since I was only covering the front (you could easily cover all of the sides).

The next step is to trace out your frame onto the paper (I use scrap paper to make a stencil first. This seems to keep me from wasting my nice paper). Then go ahead and cut out what you've traced. Keep trimming it until it fits just the way you want it. YAY! That was the hard part!!

Now grab your mod podge and a brush (you can also use a sponge applicator if you want). TIP: Stampin' Up! cardstock is high quality paper so you don't have to prep your paper before you apply your mod podge!! I like to brush my mod podge onto the back of my precut paper and then apply a thin layer onto the frame as well where the paper will be placed. Now just line it up and stick it on there. Go ahead and take a minute to smooth it out either with a brayer or your fingers. Continue this step with the remaining sides and then let it dry for a few minutes. Then apply a thin coat to the top of the paper and let dry for at least 20 minutes.

The finishing touch.. Using some of the scrappin' kit stickers go ahead and add more embellishments. Get creative and have fun with it! I used the Stampin' Write Marker to add my son's name. I LOVE the way these write so smoothly and they don't bleed. If you choose to apply another layer of mod podge over your embellishments (optional) I recommend the spray mod podge. Brushing on mod podge will make any ink smear.
